I owe my love of Sonoma Pinot to Sean Capiaux. In evaluating this bottle, if I set those sentiments aside, I’m still hit by the excellence of Gap’s Crown. This is a big wine, no doubt, but it’s grace that first comes to mind. The fruit’s ripeness is balanced with shocking depth, nose to tail. Candied red fruits, blue fruits, and smoke, oversimplify a melange of fruit and umami. ABV is the one flaw, for me. It’s hot.
