$14 bottle from WFs. Big dark fruit. Delicious for the price and my first Montepulciano D’Abruzzo!

NOSE: slight initial whiff of vinegar … bright cherries, fresh herbs… tiny bit of (cigarette) tobacco. Nuts. Fresh figs.

TASTE: smooth, soft but not wimpy, medium weight, nice balancing acidity, straight red fruit with a bit of that fig finish. Pleasant. It’s not my preferred style, but I am starting to really appreciate montepulciano. 89.

2022 fit very well with traditional Italian meal at Nonni’s in Seaside, OR. Definitely drinking again.

As are most red wines from Montepulciano, this is a very good wine. Smooth, medium body and fruit forward.

Opaque garnet with purple edges.
Light ethyl acetate and acetaldehyde on big dark fruit jammy nose.
Viscous, chalky and astringent tannins, tart acid finish with acetic burn:(
Still drinkable, but faulted.

Sickly sweet. Strange and undesirable smells. Flawed. Poured it down the drain after a couple of sips and feeling weird. Not sure if it’s just my bottle or the whole lot, but if someone is selling Italian reds for $10, it’s probably best to run the other way.
