Such a killer Pettirosso. Nose is ethereal. Just stunning. Roses, tar, deep mid season cherry. Gorgeous minerality. Earth, mint and so much more. Palate is so elegant, really no one does elegant with nebbiolo like Arpepe. Sour and sweet mid season cherries, lovely bracing and framing acidity and such purity and length. Man this is a cherry bomb. Awesome wine but it screams for food. Someone send me an ossobucco. Stat! More with air as this wine need air. With air it gets more harmonious in the mouth but the tannins pick up.

Jun 10th, 2023I love 2017 in Valtelinna. It’s like how Barolo was 30-50 years ago. A throwback vintage. Gorgeous and nimble nose of red fruits, tobacco leaf, gorgeous rose florals and stunning elegance. What an elegant nose. So pure. so lithe. so ethereal and pretty. Mid to early season cherries are the main fruit aromas here. So stunning. Palate is so juicy, lithe and elegant. My goodness this is such a pretty wine. Cleansing minerality and such freshness. Lithe and nimble tannins and such stunning purity. They masterfully handled this vintage. I’ll be back as it airs as this wine has 9 lives it changes so much. Long finish, nimble tannins and stunning fruit clarity. As this airs it gets even more fresh. The freshness here is just remarkable.

Ar.Pe.Pe the Emperor of Valtellina. Impressive complexity considering its modest price. Crafted in transparency. A perfumed tart but ripe red fruited and floral approach with a pronounced savoury canvas composed of earth, tar and bonfire. Salivating acidity, solid yet ripe grip from the tannins with a red fruit surrounding.

Palate is elegant and awash in minerals and freshness with a supple texture. Terrific inner mouth aromas and just the mosh insane freshness. This is showing so well. Wispy but present tannins. Nice length. Very very pure.

It's always impressive when a wine doesn't change at all for three days. Still has this, and yes, I know it's an oxymoron, an impressive sort of relaxed tension. So alive but relaxed in it's profile. Balanced. Fruity and earthy. Fresh bit developed. Love this wine.

Beautiful lightness in color and structure. Juicy with warm strawberry, cherry and lingonberry flavors. The nose bergamot, pomeraner, sandalwood and a little bit of nail polish. Absolutely stellar!
