Canoe Ridge Vineyard
Columbia Valley Red Blend
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of black currants, cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, chocolates and light barnyard.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, spices, wood, vanilla, cloves, green vegetables, dark coffee, chocolates, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a simple Red Blend from Columbia Valley. Fruit forward with light earth notes. Very drinkable though.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes).
13.9% alcohol by volume.
86 points.
$17.

Dark purple/red color. Pretty deep color. Smells like stewed plums and cherry cider. Hint of soils and forests floor. Maybe a tiny bit of masking tape. Flavors are zingy and tart with a nice minerality in the mix. Plums cooked down. Not prunes but like Santa Rosa plums. Slight hint of licorice/fennel/anise in the finish. Plenty bittersweet. This is more complex, chewy and strange than most CA red blends. The label says ‘dark chocolate, dark cherry and toasted marshmallow’. I get some dark chocolate, but not the rest. Less candy and more good cooked fruit things…

Apr 30th, 2024Not too bad. Hardly any nose and there’s very little lingering flavors but decent with food. Just not wine enough to drink by itself. Worth the BOGO price at Publix.
