Hello Gippsland Wines! Moving to a cooler climate wine regions means a lot more cool climate wines at the TC headquarters. Which includes my beloved Pinot Noir! (And yes, this accompanied another meal on the floor while we wait for our furniture to arrive from Perth!).

I was familiar with Mount Macleod prior to the move however I’d only gone as far as tasting their Chardy. This brand is part of the South Gippsland Wine Company / Caledonia Australis which started up in the 90s with a specific vision to create ‘classical Burgundian styled wines’. $20 from Dan Murphys.

It’s a light ruby red colour in the glass with a nose full of sweet red cherries, enticing vanilla and cedar wood. In the mouth it’s juicy, fresh and vibrant with cherries 🍒 and raspberries dominating for me. Great value Pinot at $20 a pop!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine

Wohoo so I gave Mr. Spittoon the task of choosing this month's #thetcwineclub choices and so far I think he's done a pretty decent job. This wee Pinot hails from Gippsland in Victoria and as one of the club members told me it's; "Light, almost sweet to taste then it tapers to dry. Enjoyable".

What did I think personally? Well it'd make a beautiful nail polish colour with its plummy red shade. The nose made me think of mulled wine and Christmas - think cherries and baking spices. The palate was light and fruit forward with a smooth texture - I chilled mine a bit as room temp in WA is not really ideal to serve red wines (think more 13-15 degrees for light reds like this style of Pinot).

A bit too sweet and fruity, but good depth, would be good with cheese.
