While showing a fairly Italian sensibility in several previous pours over the last year or so, if I were tasting this 50/50 Barbera/Merlot blind, I'd probably guess Croatia as its origin, due to the salty tertiary notes that have come to the front of the nose. Medium body, dry red fruit infused with anchovy paste. There's still a ghost of tannic backbone adding a shade of black fruit bite toward the finish. Intriguing juice.

A medium rusty brown, emphasis on the brown. Minimal body. A bit oxidized. Looks unappealing. Plums and prunes. A tad sweet. Maybe a bad bottle. Definitely not worth the price. Tried next to a Emmolo Napa Valley 2013 Merlot. Absolutely no comparison.

Many, many miles away from the steep hills of Jerome, AZ... Yet still there, thanks to the magic potion. 50% Barbera 50% Merlot.
"PAR CONDICIO"
Maximum respect for my Favourite US cellars.
