A classic old movie and a big, rich rendition of Grenache. Reminds me of some old vine Aussie Grenaches I’ve had. Sweet kirsch, raspberry fruit and a bit of sandstony gravelly scents. Nicely balanced in the mouth. It’s 15.37% alc., but it doesn’t really show. (If I had known it was 15 or higher before I ordered it (Garagiste), I probably wouldn’t have bought it because of my arbitrary “never 15” rule, but . . . .) Still has some tannin left, but it’s soft, and the fruit isn’t too jammy. Instead, it gets savory, and earthy and stony as the finish extends. Pretty darn good!

Color of grey purple, quite clean, and a bit bubbly. Nose is sweet, some ice wine sweet, aldehyde, minty, a bit woody, and a bit spice. Nose is interesting. Taste follows the nose with sweet grape plus wood, nice tannings, spice, and some ice wine taste. Some more blackberry, coke cola, and dark skin grapes on the 2nd sip. Aftertaste is medium long with some bitter note. Some more coke cola note too. Quite special.

Very nice, light fruit on the nose. Comes on strong with dark cherry and blueberry flavors. Almost syrupy. But at 15% alcohol, there’s a nice balance, and the finish turns oaky and warm, but not sweet.
