Absolutely Savage! Geez, this wine was wild, super squirrely with all kinds of herbaceousness, spice, funk, musk, dirt, leather, cranberry and about a million other secondary type aromas. Norton can be a rather unusual grape, this 12 yr old was showing all kinds of bricking on the edge and tannins kinda broke down leaving the structure struggling to remain intact. May have gotten hot sometime in its life - had some cooked/volatility as well. Intriguing & historic winery in VA

1 person found it helpfulMay 25th, 2018Wild stuff, see previous note for 06. This is 2012 and had some add’l notes of rose petal & lavender. Really unusual but interesting much more polished. Lots of fresh boysenberry, elderberry and brambly fruit. Sweet inner core.
