Got a little age on it and tasting just right. Currants, blackberries, leather, soy sauce, garrigue.

Nice color with thin fast moving legs.

On the nose: Vanilla bean, fresh pink roses, opening to mild mint/white chocolate notes after about it was open for an hour.

The palate showing a medium body and high acidity. In this bottle the tannins fell flat for me and thought they were too mild for a Syrah. Nice boysenberry with medium cherry tart finish and tea notes.

Overall I liked this wine a lot but had to bump it down 2/2 to the slightly off body and low tannin for a Syrah. Nice cali effort.

I suppose I should like this a bit more than I do. The nose is minty cedar followed by oaky vanilla. But the fruit falls apart just after the attack and then I get a sense of massive oak tree. This is a very chewy wine with big tannins and abundant acid, and deep black fruit typical of Syrah. Too much wine for me. I treasure more restraint.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, chocolates, peppercorn and leather.

Full bodied with medium acidity and smooth with nice legs.

Spicy on the attack, and bone dry on the palate, with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and spices.

Long finish with firm tannins and black pepper.

What an enjoyable Syrah from Howell Mountain in Napa Valley, California.
This 5 year old is now balanced, complex and interesting. Still young and needs another couple of years in the bottle to mature.

Great all by itself as a sipping wine, but also with food like BBQ Meats. I paired it with steak and baked potatoes.

Needs an hour or so, to open up properly.

13.9% alcohol by volume.

Lovely, balanced expression of Syrah with just enough complexity to engage the head and the heart.

Part 3 of 3 from a tasting with Burgess Cellars.
-On the nose, a plethora of mixed fruits! Before even tasting I can tell it's going to be a smooth and enjoyable fruit bomb.
-Drinking wise, I enjoyed this way more than expected. Vanilla & boysenberry. Tannins well integrated.

Not usually a fan of Napa Syrah but this has something going on. A bit too in your face for my liking but the age helps it a bit. Wouldn't mind trying again in another couple of years.
