Really lush, with cherry/plum and nutmeg/clove notes as well as hints of blackberry and tobacco. Tastes a little more alcoholic than its alcohol rating of 13.5%. Paired with a very high quality cut of pork, slow cooked and smothered in BBQ, feshly made mashed potatoes (with skins!), and steamed green beans; this pairing was put if this world!
2009, along with 2008 and 2013, were warm years for this region. Warm years produce riper fruit flavors like plum and blackberry and taste lush. Cooler years introduce more pepper and spice (the pepper I do not like).

Jan 7th, 2016Dense dark red. Not crystal clear, light fining(?). Longish legs.
Rich peppery nose with some sweet oak.
Rich young wine. A lot of spice and fruit flavors covers whole palate but not fully integrated yet. Long finish with lingering fruit and mid weight tannins.
Very nice wine. Will be interesting to see how it ages.
