Highly anticipated for us. Tightly wound nose and palate. Blueberry jam on the nose extends to the palate. Displays a nice, rich mid-palate texture with moderate sweetness, but finishes with a hint of bitterness. For the money, this falls short.

We tasted this weeks ago - sorry.
It was good, but surprisingly, showing its age.

Day one and day 2, excellent. Smooth, rich and dense. More vanillin than we recall, but no complaints here. We’d love to see where this evolves to 10 years from now.

Date night.
Finally back on the drinking curfew in the week, so this tasting experience is amplified.
Intricate nose of jam compote and coffee. Palate is silky smooth, yet dense. Jet black cherries are married with cassis and kirsch. Plush tannins and moderate acidity complete what is a glorious ensemble. This has many years of runway ahead of it - Left Bank, NYC.

The 2016 Brilliant Mistake Cabernet Sauvignon is a spectacular showing. Winemaker Maayan Koschizky crafted this wine from 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. It begins with stunning aromas of ripe blackberries, crème de cassis, spring florals, savory herbs and tobacco all coming together beautifully in the glass. This full-bodied Cabernet continues to impress with a gorgeous rich, seamless texture, and enveloping plush mouthfeel that continues through the long voluptuous finish. Incredibally expressive, the 2016 will be open for business upon release and should continue to drink beautifully for years to come.

I thought we should have let this rest in the bottle - let this be a warning to you...
It displays a plump, rich nose of black cherries, earth (that Rutherford dust) and dark chocolate. The palate presents slightly underripe tannins with layered black and blue fruits. Beautiful detail, with depth and breadth on the mid-palate. The tannins are center-stage, but the underlying finish is silky. Interesting cedar notes add another layer. Leave this in your cellar for a few more years - it’s only going to further improve.
Artsy fartsy pic by wifey - you know it!

This was ready to go from the onset. Impressive nose of cedar, smoke and black cherries. Pliant on the palate with excellent acidity. Suave tannins are complimented by notes of coffee, and berries. Finishes with texture and just the right amount of sweetness.
