Bremer Family
Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
WNH Napa theme along with some new faces.
My second bottle in the past 6 months and this one seemed to be more youthful, with the oak tannin really gripping at the finish. 15yrs young in the glass with dark purple and ruby with only a small touch of bricking at the rim. Aromatically it smells of mixed berry fig, slightly overripe dark fruits (blue and black), dark cocoa, mocha, and some red clay. On the palate, the acidity has mellowed out but the tannin is crazy powerful. The palate shows slightly more to the red fruit spectrum with more old fig and mocha, roasted dark plum, and black currant. This can undoubtedly hold another 5+yrs, but the finish has me thinking it will just be different as opposed to better.

The ‘11 vintage which was very hard. However mtn. Fruit faired better. Medium bodied. No cool/wet aspects. But after two hrs open: green tobacco leaf, dried black berry. Impressive for the vintage!!

Jun 11th, 2018Seen and heard of Bremer before, but never experienced their wines. Then again, coming from Howell Mountain means it will be right up my wheel house!
My understanding is that they hold back their wines a bit longer than others. Weston mentioned he believed this 2010 was the current release for this Howell Mountain cab. If so, it still needed almost two hours to open up. Big boy. Gripping tannins at pop and pour. Nose was dusty earth, spice, red licorice and plum. Tannins calmed down at the two hour mark and the wine showed great texture on the palate. Very full front, mid and back palate finish of blackberries, cedar and dates. I have an older Chardonnay from these guys that I'm excited to try.

Stunning. Lush fruit and a solid balance of acid and tannin. Yummy for the next 5-10 years for sure.

Jan 25th, 2015This is balanced and has the tastes of the soil from here. As we sit at the winery, it is peaceful and full of respect for the grapes. A very wonderful wine!

Aug 24th, 2015An opaque purple, the '07 Bremer Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain shows intoxicating aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and toasty oak. Well-structured mouthfeel with flavors of plum, bittersweet chocolate and cinnamon. Silky tannins with earthy undertones on a medium-long finish.
