Another great value red from Coonawarra - this from Bowen Estate. I paid $27.50 at the cellar door in 2021. Their excellent Cabernet Sauvignon was the same price. In earlier days this Cuvée showed cooler climate characteristics of white pepper - not evident in this bottle. This shows more spice, red berries and black olives. Just a medium weight palate and obviously great QPR. Interestingly in the early days of Coonawarra, Shiraz was more planted than Cabernet Sauvignon - it’s the reverse these days.

The Cabernet knocks the Shiraz out of the park. Good, easy drinking but nothing special.

Rich, flavorful Cab with fantastic bold tannins well integrated with the dark red fruit of cranberry, blueberry, currant. Layers of complexity readily opened up and a grippy finish. We picked it up at cellar doors when we were traveling across SE SA a few years back and visited Coonawarra. Had to drink it today to celebrate their most severe but shortest 3 day lock down in this pandemic history.

Vibrant dark red fruit, picking up cranberry soaked in oak and a bit edgy. Single note but full bodied.
