English cricketing legend, Sir Ian Botham launched his new Aussie range of @bothamwines and they’re hitting sixes!
Being a fiend of #Shiraz and #curry, I tried this The Botham 81 Series Barossa 2017 Shiraz with some homemade beef curry with black rice.
Each number in the range refers to a pivotal moment in Sir Ian’s sporting career. 81 refers to 1981 when Sir Ian was dubbed the ‘Botham Ashes’ for leading his team to victory against Australia.
I found this Shiraz a fairly opaque purple-red colour in the glass. On the nose it made me think of warm berry pie with a sprinkling of spice. There’s also a nice whiff of oak in there. In the mouth, it’s juicy and fruit forward with an incredibly long finish. The spicy vindaloo curry really brought out the berries and vanilla in the wine. I think we can class this one as a #jaffa (for those not familiar with this term, it refers to an exceptionally well-bowled ball).
A big thanks to @cellarmasters for this sixer of a sample 😘
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #winesample #tcweekdaywine
