While I normally prefer Saxum when it comes to Paso red wines (mostly due to the fact that I love whole cluster/stem inclusion in my Rhone wines), I have to admit that this was a standout. Whereas Saxum is a bit more lifted and bright, this is more juicy and hedonistic.

I started consuming this at pop and pour, but I think this was at peak after 1-2hrs of slow ox. Almost 1/3 equal percentage Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache, it represents each varietal well. Deep purple in the glass and the aromatics jump with notes of mulberries, black cherries, dark chocolate coated black berries. Typical Paso rhone blend in that it is open young, and sports a gorgeous garrigue, iron, juniper note on the mid palate and finish. The back end shows a touch of pepper, mainly white pepper with smoked meat.

The extended barrel age version here softens the profile and shows a complex, yet giving, wine that will go for years.

Great right out of the bottle. A lovely blend with lots of red fruit. Goes well with pizza and marinara.

A great Rhone blend right out of the bottle. 38% mourvedre, 30% grenache, 23% syrah. The rest cournoise. Well balanced with lots of red fruit.

Dark chocolate on the nose. Light but powerful. Finished with pure red fruit. Perfect with kale, quinoa and grape salad
