Jul 6th, 2019Black fruit nose. Translucent purple with a wide redish rim. Earthy, mushroom, and licorice at open with a flash of dark stewy cranberry sauce. Nice long finish after 2 hour decant with wood/cedar and a smooth smoke. Med plus acidity and faint tannin which tbh there could’ve had more of a punch. That and a thinner/lighter body for a CDR also knocks it down just slightly for me. Nice little surprise at my in-laws.

Jun 30th, 2019Forest floor, mushroom, black soil, and almost black olive notes. Blackberries and light spices come through, with plenty of acid and tannin. Solid food wine, not revelatory.
