The 2013 Quella is fabulous. Bright, racy and vibrant, the 2013 is just magnificent. There's plenty of tannin and structure, but it’s all woven so well into the wine's frame. Crushed rose petals, spice, mint, new leather and cedar build into the dense, resonant finish. The 2013 has blossomed into a truly exceptional wine. Superb. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2024)

After a couple months of hiatus, the Friday City Club group was able to get back together (albeit a smaller, more spread out group) for an epic hosting by @joe leatherwood . 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds and 1 dessert wine, all served blind.

The first of a monster lineup of 5 incredible red wines. For the first 10-15mins, this was actually my favorite. Very high toned and lifted. Bright. Rich red fruits, spicy black fruits, kirsch, sage and potpourri jump from the glass. On the palate, it was the most elegant of the five with Black Forest cake, mulberries, cedar, dark chocolate shavings and baking spices. I called this 7-10yr old Napa cab (but it certainly seemed a bit of an outlier compared to the next 4!)

@Benjamin Keator had his hosting at the CC tonight and it was absolutely incredible. What a night of gorgeous wines! All wines are guessed blind.

5 reds tonight. 5 Bonds. Insane. I’m not going to try and evaluate each one as if they were crazy different because honestly, I found it fairly easy to determine all were from the same producer. That being said, I guessed all 5 reds were from the same producer and waffled between a horizontal or vertical...I ultimately chose vertical (which was wrong). I guessed all were Napa cabs. This was actually my favorite in the moment. It wasn’t as chalky/dusty as the first two and the fruit profile had mellowed. A younger tar and granite note came through with this.

Like a strong, elegant ballerina dancing on your palate. Bold yet serene. Evolving as it opens in the glass. A truly beautiful representation of the terroir where it’s grown.

Decanted 3 hours and enjoyed with rooftop ribeyes. A little more oak showing than the other '07 Bond's but far more approachable than the pluribus. Camphor, sweet tar, coffee grounds.....and violets? 😉 @Dag Zapatero @Roman Sukley

Dense primary fruit & rich ripe tannins. That's about it at the moment. It might take another 9 years to shed the baby fat.
