2009 held up nice. 14%+ ABV still evident. Lost a lot of the big bombastic fruit, very light on the tannins. What your left with is powdered baking cocoa dusted with some mocha notes mixed into a silky body. These have been pulled from a stash I’ve been “aging” over the years. Not meant for long term or any aging at all, but I think 5-7 years is the absolute max these could lay down. The intent was to see how that fruit bomb would mellow over time which it does leaving not much else in way of structure. Easy drinking sipping wine is all you have left and for many this might fit the bill. Cheap and fun $20 experiment that demonstrates the different stages of a wine’s life cycle. Caught this one probably just past peak.

Good but not as bold and smooth as I would like. May have been a bad bottle, had at Stachels

Disappointing considering their Zinfandel is good per the price point.

One of my favorites. complex, deep ruby color. Love blends-old vine zin, sirah and mourvedre. Comes out once a year around september then its gone.

Best red I've ever had. Very berry but not overly sweet. Love it!
