Bogle Vineyards
California Chardonnay

Not a big california chardonnay fan but this one is one of the most interesting ones I've had. 50% of fermentation on new American oak then the whole thing is aged longer on more new American oak. Might as well go bourbon barrel I say.
Nose is oak and banana but as it warms you get vanilla, citrus and buttercream. Flavor is straight oak with some strong acid and tannin. Some citrus and peach shine through with vanilla finishing.

Bought it mainly for cooking, but is surprisingly good for a cheap wine.

Nov 27th, 2020Quite honestly so surprised. I bought this for cooking and poured myself a glass. It’s an incredible value and absolutely delicious.

Jun 3rd, 2020I like Bogle majority of the time. Grabbed this on way home today and was really impressed with it for the price! 9 bux, lots of depth but not over the top. Will get more. Apple and pear, mild sweet cream on the finish. Maybe honeydew or grass aroma. Had it with some balsamic and onion cheese (grabbed with the wine). Smooth, but not too sweet or syrupy. Will return for more! 2017 vintage. Recommend it.
