Bodegas y Vinedos Ponce
Pino Manchuela Bobal

No notes- higher end Unicorn Spanish varietal. Think Mencia more in Ribera Sacra mood. Pretty good.

Bobal is a Spanish variety usually grown for inexpensive wines, but biodynamic producer Ponce take it more seriously. Raspberries, bramble, smoke, and anise, slightly carbonic, with drying tannins. Quite Spanish, but fresh and original. Drunk and enjoyed greatly with chicken and pumpkin sauce.

Earthy, quinine, on the nose. A bit of a delayed punch, very ripe peaches, bitter greens. Might have drank it too young.

My first Bobal! So earthy! Soil and tobacco. Faint dark cherry fruit. Some rubber on the nose. Unique.

Very nicely balanced with full soft tannins giving it nice body. Nice deep, plummy fruit.

Jun 22nd, 2017Medium bodied, dark fruit, velvety, dry. Opens up with a bit more dried raisiny notes and leather aroma. Easy to drink and paired well with Spanish tapas
