Bodegas y Vinedos La Mejorada
Villalar Oro Tierra de Castilla y León Tempranillo
The nose is plum, funk, mushroom, loads of earth and rocks, tobacco, and a whiff of lavender. The tannins have started to relent revealing more balance and freshness as it recedes. The purity of the aromas has deepened, with the flavors following along. Great value at about $16 from this lesser known part of Castilla Y Leon. 🇪🇸

Oct 10th, 2015Earthy, just a little funky, but there's plenty of bright fruit to balance it out. Oak is restrained. Could be a ringer for a village Pommard.

Jul 3rd, 2015Fruit, earth , rocks and lavender soar on the nose and the palate. Some spice and a touch of savory. Great energy as this keeps evolving and unfolding layers of flavor and terroir. Long and clean finish, medium to full bodied tannins frame a long and coasting finish.

Oct 31st, 2013A great sub-$20 find, this was my favorite wine out of a huge group of Tempranillo based Spanish wines, many that were much more expensive. A fresh nose of red fruit, earth and spice. The palate was energetic, with layers of wonderfully balanced and persistent flavors with a clean finish of lively acidity and medium grain, but well integrated tannins.
