Bodegas Volver
Wrongo Dongo Monastrell
Dark inky in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of black currants, blueberries, cherries, earth, light oak, light vanilla, herbs, vegetables, chocolates, light mocha, dark coffee, tobacco, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices graphite, bitter herbs, black tea and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Spanish Monastrell is always enjoyable. Nicely balanced and big, with lots of black fruits and earth notes all intertwined together.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows the big tannins.
This teeth staining red wine is drinking nicely now and could use one more year in the bottle to mellow out.
Good by itself or with food like BBQ Meats. I paired it with Spanish tapas.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$10.

This is a nice Monastrell from Jumilla. Almost balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Earthy with mild complexity.
A good food wine or just to sip on.
Good everyday wine at a great price.
Could use a couple of years in the bottle to mature properly. I had it 7 months ago and it is getting better.
I paired it with a chicken flatbread and hard cheeses.

Very ripe, almost jammy blackberries with a hint of black olives in the strong aromatics. Medium body with pretty mild acid but good tannins to balance the fruit.

Jun 24th, 2019This was good when I first opened it and let it breath. However it did not keep well overnight into the next day. Drink the bottle upon opening — it’s dry with deep cherry flavors, medium body and tannins.

Nov 29th, 2018Bold and delicious, only found it locally at two restaurants but I’m searching for a way of sourcing some bottles at home!

Aug 21st, 2018Acidic and berry from the nose. Dark garnet color, fruity scent from the glass. Acidic taste and a touch of spice but not over powering with a short finish. A plain red.
