Bodegas Volver
Tarima Monastrell
The bottle notes description says it all concisely and correctly: “...notes dark violets, red berries, and licorice.”
Every time I have this it just satisfies me more. Enjoyed with Paella!

Winemaker's NotesBodegas Volver Tarima is a 100% Monastrell that shows extraordinary expression of the variety. Aromas and flavors of licorice, chocolate, grass and florals qualities. It will pair well with fish in sauce, various meats and cheeses.Critical AcclaimRP91The Wine Advocate - "Another terrific value is the 2015 Tarima (Nonorganic) from Alicante and another 100% Mourvèdre cuvée, aged six months in French oak. This wine has terrific aromatics, broad, expansive flavors, about 15% natural alcohol and an expansive, heady mouthfeel. This is rich, dense and Provençal in its flavor components. Totally aged in used oak and stainless steel, the wine is a real sleeper and big-time winner in the values sweepstakes. Drink it over the next several years."

Type:Young red Crianza wine
Producer:Bodegas Volver
Wine region:Alicante (Spain)
Grapes:Mourvèdre
Bottle:0.75 L
Review :We are unlikely to find many wines at this price that are so appealing and thoroughly enjoyable. Although, on observing the Ordóñez signature, we shouldn't be surprised.
This little Tarima is a very complete wine: a single varietal Monastrell, an indigenous grape variety, it appears a lively dark Picota cherry colour with abundant tears.
On the nose it exudes notes of fine wood, coffee, caramel, very juicy ripe fruit, very refreshing mineral and balsamic notes, a spicy background along with aromas of honeycomb and Mediterranean plants... It exhibits a remarkable richness of aromas with excellent blending.
On the palate it is oily, intense, medium-bodied, its persistence is truly remarkable and the aftertaste is extremely long, with a reappearance of the caramel notes. To drink again and again, and to say again and again: a very complete wine.
Food Pairing:Red meats / barbecued meats / lentils with chorizo sausageWine
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Picota cherry red / with violet hues at the rim
Bouquet: Fruit aromas / ripe red fruit / caramel / coffee / balsamic notes / mineral notes
Palate: Fresh / unctuous / fruit-forward / flavoursome / long
