What happens w purple wine w age. Not my wheelhouse, & better for it as I appreciate its burnished intensity. I shudder to think what kind of monster this was several years ago. Its still a very big wine.

Could still use a few more years. Cork good with staining 50%. Decanted & filtered. Super dark color. Needed a good rare red meat. Still very strong tannins. Heavy fruit initial with tannin predominate, mid slightly smoother, after taste as strong tannins

What all amazing Ribera del duero should aspire to be. The balance of fruit herbs and tannins is superb and only shown up by the unending finish.

Apr 15th, 201517+. 2001. Rich and powerful, fairly long, doesn't have the elegance of Riojas at this level. Not as good as my last bottle of this wine. But there are more, and no sign this is getting too old.
