Rivallana Reserva Rioja Tempranillo

Really enjoyed this Rioja. Very balanced and paired excellent with dinner

Needs time to open up. Better on the second day

Still somewhat tannic but good with Korean style short ribs.

Dry, medium bodied with bright cherries. Delish!

Sweeter full bodied wine.

Nice, rustic wine.
Pizza wine.

Good w Indian food. Not amazing but easily drinkable

Very pleasant, fruit, tannin and acidity. Was very good turkey stuffed cabbage rolls.

This was an inky dark purple wine with loads of berry flavor and layers of interesting notes from start to finish.

Apparently the window for drinking Tempranillo is 5 to 10 yrs (Wine Folly). WE vintage chart indicated the 2016 Rioja to be a 95 " can drink not at peak. WS rated this at a 92; I would not go that far! I always wonder about ratings? Is it an estimate for when the wine is near maturity? Please note the above information I utilize as a soft guide; deeply appreciate advice given through this forum!
This wine needed some coaxing, two days on the counter..no cork plus 90 min. decant. Old World in style, tobacco, violets, rich Bing Cherries, licorice Snaps and cedar. Patience is everything I took a sip of this two days ago and thought about dumping it!
