A ruddy ruby color with deep purple accents and a wide, orange rim. Definite signs of bricking here but not too bad. The earthy, smokey nose packs quite the punch. Toasted oak and stewed plums play lead off with dried herbs and earth coming in too. Slightly muted red fruits dance in the nose.

At 14 years, this is still an amazingly lively Tempranillo. Despite the bricking the fruit is still there and kicking as hard as it can. Not nearly as dry as more youthful vintages of this, it’s substantially more balanced and fragrant. Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice tannins.

Patience is a virtue when it comes to this. Give it plenty of time and it will respond with an intense entry of black cherry, strawberry, and mulberry. Signature spice all over this along with herbs and oak. Medium to long finish. Still has some life yet.
