It’s been a couple years since we opened a bottle. We got a case of this after an amazing meal at a great little tapas restaurant now gone. Showing its age. A little past peak, but still lot’s of charm. Red brick in color with a chocolate halo and clear rim. Nose is musty earth. Still good fruit. Memories of cherries have turned to plum and black raspberry. Finish is bright acidity, but not as much as other Riojas that can border on sour. Good memories of the dating years may have added a point. 😀

We had the 2007 Reserva on 4/28/17. The occasion is a memorial to my friend and colleague from Spain, Gus Collado. The wine is really good with smoothed tannins, tastes of black cherry, violet and graphite. Smooth finish to this medium bodied wine. Gus, I will miss you and Rest In Peace
