Almost explosive aromas from the get go- beautiful, rustic and piquant are the words I’d use to describe this wine. Fresh and dried red berries, tobacco leaf, some mocha, iron, garrigue, orange peel and sloe gin. Salty and savory through the finish. Boisterous even. Excellent value. I think this will be entering its prime window in 5 years.

Barnyard funk, cranberry, and raspberry on the nose. Cigar box, tobacco, dark cherry, cedar, oak, charred fruit, and spice on the palate. Moderate tannin and acid.

Unusually brilliant and vibrant red color, unusually lively and energetic palate for mature Rioja, very slight hint of oxidation which does not interfere. Pretty great and unlike anything else in the wine world.
