Bodegas El Nido
Clio Jumilla Monastrell-Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Very savory nose, with bramble, black fruit and a vanilla note coming out. Savory palate, even smoother. Bacon fat appears, the most savory of the lot.

Feb 26th, 2024Very interesting blend - spicy and jammy - more like a Syrah than a cab. It’s a 70% Monastrell and 30% cab blend.

Jul 15th, 2018A Clio is not for the faint of heart. If you are a six shooter, this is a shotgun. Heavily extracted, big oak, sweet flavors of cherry, vanilla, licorice, blueberry, with mild heat on the nose. It almost doesn't matter, this wine just has a presence. The beauty is that the mouth feel is not overwhelming, it's rich but still lively, the acidity keeps it fresh. The finish is long lasting, leaving a wonderful chalkiness that leaves me licking my lips for the next sip. This wine had shut down for a while, but boy is it back.

May 5th, 2016Spicy, jammy black fruit. Great vintage. My favorite Spanish wine.

Oct 18th, 2015Drank last night at a dinner party, but didn't take notes. Lots of black fruit, spice, sweet oak vanilla notes, creamy texture, and very fine tannins. This wine startled me with two things: not seeming hot, and holding up this well for as long as it has.
