Complex, with two distinct phases. Round red raspberry and bramble shifts into menthol and blackberry on the lingering finish. Paired well with kalamata, chorizo, caramelized onion, and grass-fed beef topped pizza.

Delicious wine. Even though it is 15.5% abv it is well balanced. 2004 vintage and still youthful in taste. Sorry that this was my last bottle.

Second bottle of the evening and… wow. Such a beautiful wine to close out the night. Dark berries, licorice, spices… hold up to the richest desserts, yet it’s light enough to dance on the tongue. Looking forward to seeing how the other, slightly younger bottles develop.

Man I forgot what a beast this wine is. Amazing fruit, beginning as dried and prunish but w air turns brambly, then more reddish. A bit of heat on the backend is tempered well by food. This wine is still showing young, I’d say entering prime drinking window. Wow.

Explosive blackberry liqueur, caramel, toasted oak, licorice, and plenty of heat even after 13 years. But unlike newer vintages, the rock n roll tannins have mellowed, leaving a creamy and smooth finish but still layered and a mild bite. Just proves these wines need age... lots of it. But in a great year, worth the wait.

Just as good as remembered. Muscular but approachable. We got after it right away but could use an hour decanted.

Insane nose with expressive notes of mint and earth. At its peak.

This was the heaviest Red I've ever consumed. Thick and alcoholic
