Bodegas Casa Castillo
Las Gravas Jumilla Monastrell
The raw purity and textural landscapes here are first class. A truly beautiful expression of grape and place. Vivid, deeply mineral, haunting aromatics, yet totally wild and unique. Bravo.

Jul 29th, 2023This wine is a winner for me on day 1. Needed two hours to begin opening up. Lively, fresh - round tannins and beautiful acidity. Taste profile is interesting to me - more earthy and coffee than fruity. Really balanced and harmonious. Very interesting and satisfying. Made from Mourvèdre grown in the Jumilla region in Spain. Drank even better on day 2.

Jan 17th, 2023Full, rich and luxurious. Silky texture. A lot of alcohol on the nose, even after several hours open, but the balance of dark fruits and tannins is delightful. Late harvest Merlot-like qualities. Very herbal, chalky, dry, dusty long finish, like falling leaves. Overall a great Fall red. 14.5% abv.
