Atteca Calatayud Old Vines Garnacha

A nice Spanish Garnacha from the house of Juan Gil.

Showing black fruits with earth, light vegetables, pencil lead, peppercorn, chocolates, tobacco, graphite and spices.

Dry on the palate and medium plus in body.

Medium plus acidity with long legs.

Nice finish with medium minus tannins, but I didn't have enough time to let it open up properly.

Fruit forward and spicy.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

100% Garnacha. Good buy under $20.

Earth, spice, dark fruit, with a med (-) body.

Awesome. Cherry with herbs and a distinct, yet not overpowering, woodiness.

Attica old vines 2012 Garnacha. Very good quality. Black fruit, eucalyptus and sweet herbs.

Pleasant, not much more.

😍 i’m always amazed with a few years in the bottle can do for a wine. The wine showed so much maturity. The flavors were perfectly integrated and nonexistent tannins but still displaying vibrant fruit. In the nose, there was waning blue and black berries tinge with cocoa powder. Absolutely delicious wish I had more.

Medium plus ruby in color; black cherries, raspberries, and tabacco on the nose; high acidity, high tannins; tastes like candied cherries, hibiscus, and crushed gravel with a long finish. Nellie likes it, and so do I.
