Another cellar test. From the earliest international shipments of Alejandro Fernandez. Bottle purchased at retail in bad condition under hot lights, standing up, leaking. 27 years in cellar, cork intact, wine clear and transparent, fruit fresh and elegant. Taught and long. Rating without qualification (but look forward to trying a good bottle!)

This is so extra! Carries that old-world fruit forward, dusty, tannic, yet velvety feel, especially when given about and hr to aerate. Not a textbook but certainty classically joyfully RdD.

Provided by a friend for a go deep on older wines dinner pre-Christmas. Initially concerned that a storage mishap earlier in its life may have done some damage, but once opened for 20-30 minutes, it really started to sing nicely. 31 year old Ribera del Duero from a time when you still needed to know to buy these wines on release. Deeper than a Rioja, so good dark fruits, tobacco, horse leather, and the like. Enjoyed with standing rib roast and more than held its own with Bordeaux from the same year and other delicious wines.
