This is a sublime, well-aged 1986 Tinto Pesquera Janus Gran Reserva, served with grilled lamb along side Israeli couscous infused with cinnamon, pine nuts and raisins. A wonderful example of old-school Ribera in its prime drinking window, the rim is watery and just slightly orange-tinged. A subtle, lovely nose of dusty earth, exotic market spices, black cherries, red-skinned plum and iodine. It's medium-bodied, with fine, silken tannins. Orange zest and dried flowers on a lengthy and gratifying finish.
