Bodega Septima
Mendoza Tempranillo
Smelling smoked ham. Tasting almonds and sour raspberries. Medium, silky, dry. Good stuff.

Mar 27th, 2015Colour: Lighter than the majority of Spanish examples I've tasted. Garnet core to a watery rose rim.
Nose: Red fruits, mild oak, and some spice, coming across rather closed.
Palate: medium bodied, soft tannins, acidity is balanced. Palate confirms nose.
For the price ($17 in NS) this is a nice change from the over-oaked style so many Spanish Tempranillos exhibit.
After some decanting it is much more expressive and softens further. A slight coffee note on the nose becomes apparent with time.

This wine was memorable, which is all I need in a glass.
