Carracedo Bierzo Mencía

Cool berry and a whisper of earthy funk. Fine firm tannins and a bit if cocoa on the finish. Sneaky acid. Drinks at or maybe above its price point. Glad I have more.

Picked up on the distress market. Super value. Rich, deep, complex. Fleshy, smokey, minerally. Makes me want to learn more about mencia and what's happening in Bierzo.

My favorite from our recent beer vs wine dinner. Wine won, of course.

This 2007 Mencia is still drinking remarkably well. I’m down to my last 2 bottles. Inky purple. Mocha and cocoa. Delicious.

Aging beautifully. Wish we had more. Wonderful with lamb stew with eggs and Pecorino.

Drinking perfectly right now. It has been 4-5 years since I last tasted this wine and it was too young. Now it is hitting its stride.

Aged well.

Black and red fruits, round, herbaceous, touch of sweet oak, medium acidity. With Rack of Lamb.

Beautiful!!! I love this wine. Very similar to cab franc.

The wine a good wine but not my style. The were nice notes of blackberry but I found too much oak. Tannins were well balanced but the wine was trying to do too much. There was a fake artificial element to it.
