Deep gold with a greenish tint. Light citrus on the nose. Nice, balanced acidity. Medium body. Straightforward. I taste a hint of pear. No oak. Minerals emerge in the finish. 13.5% alcohol. From high altitude vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. The Catena Zapata Family has bottled wine in Argentina since 1902. Enjoyed with moules marinières and sourdough bread. Very quaffable. $17.00

Ripe apple, lime, wet hay, and light chalky minerals complement of the oaky nose. On the palate it has more stone fruit flavor, with fresh acidity and nice texture. Finish is clean and crisp.
Catena is always dependable.

Stewed apples with some butter and vanilla. Also a little honeysuckle, Meyer lemon and pineapple. The acidity is soft and there’s a little dry stone minerality. It could use more of these last two elements for my taste. But this is pleasant enough, as a fairly typical new world Chardonnay.
