Angelica Zapata Alta Cabernet Franc
Mendoza, Cuyo, Argentina
Dark purple with near black core. Sweet blackberry, herbs, and light baseball bat on the inviting nose. Confirmed on the medium full palate with a hint of marzipan and medium plus acidity. Tannins are mild but present. Oak is present but mild. This food-friendly (I had with beef Wellington) red is an excellent example of why Cabernet of the Franc kind is rapidly gaining ground in the market. New World fruit but surrounded by Old World finesse and none of that SB-induced pyrazine to throw things off. Drink now through 2027.

Sadly never comes to the States and last had an ‘04 when I was in Argentina in ‘11 so couldn’t wait to find a bottle on this trip. More gripping and darker in color than the blood-red ‘04. Great now and will continue to soften and evolve over many years to come. Glad to see it’s popularity Increasing since last time....albeit harder to find! ;)

Brought back from Argentina in 2011. Let it rest 7 years and just enjoyed it. Tough to find something to complain about. But that’s what I’d expect when it has that price tag

No olfato, predominam cerejas e framboesa, no paladar amora, ameixa, frutas vermelhas no geral, adocicado na medida certa, um verdadeiro néctar, bem encorpado mas ao mesmo tempo suave, acidez despercebida. Sensacional!

Тельное с умеренной кислотностью и мягкими, бархатистыми танинами. Заметная спиртуозность во вкусе. Продолжительное послевкусие. Очень новосветское, паркеровский стиль.
