Blackstone Winery
Winemaker's Select California Cabernet Sauvignon
Ruby in color with a reddish/burgundy rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, currants, plums, licorice, oak, vanilla, sweet candy, dill, baking spices, smoke, light vegetables, chocolates, coffee and black pepper.
Full bodied, but not bold, with medium plus acidity and decent legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, oak, vanilla, spices, light bell pepper, coffee, chocolates, tobacco and peppercorn.
Medium finish with soft tannins and black pepper.
A nice surprise on this inexpensive Cabernet Sauvignon from California. Simple but drinking very nicely now. Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with a cheese plate and nuts.
Good right out of the bottle and will also be a crowd pleaser at parties. This 2013 vintage is much better than the previous one.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Orange /brownish in color with a brick rim.
Fruity on the nose with blackberries, cherries, strawberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves and white pepper.
Light to medium bodied with high acidity.
Tart and dry on the palate, but after 30 minutes of opening up, blackberries, cherries, cedar, cranberry, cloves, red currants, spices and black pepper.
Medium finish with soft tannins and spices.
Drinkable, but not by itself. Better with cheese and crackers or pasta with red sauce. Simple and unattractive, with an aftertaste. Not for me.

Surprisingly good. Bought at TJs and used for cooking lamb and beef.

1 person found it helpfulAug 1st, 2015Really enjoyed this 2013 wine. From the first pour it had a great taste, mouth feel and finish. Smoke and berries on the nose. Smooth mouth feel and a lingering finish.

Aug 14th, 2016Nose has cherry, blackberry hint of mineral and alcohol. Lots of fruit in the front of the palette but not much more after - clean finish.
