California Merlot

Medium to deep tawny red. Damp newspaper on the nose. Solid acidity with medium tannins (5.5/10). Light to medium bodied with dried cherries, and a touch of sweet spices. A little dry with a short finish. Past its prime.

Ok. Don’t like the label.

This must be an early vintage to this wine. Probably best if you don’t let it age. If you have the 2003 vintage 14 years later perhaps a course of action would be to drink it fast, no pauses between sips. Very “unique” aftertaste. Not quite vinegar but it is on approach.

I think this may be my favorite cheap wine. Fruit forward with blackberry and a smooth finish.

Solid basic merlot

Not too dry, very smooth, and rich in berry and oak flavors. This could very well become my go-to merlot!

Think Peyton Manning. Still good but better days are a few years back. Does go well with our dinner though.

Drinkable. Berry notes but a bit watered down. Thin mouth feel. Quick finish. Not dry.
