Reminds of the Mad Dog 20 20 we used to (illegally) drink as teenagers. Brings back memories! But as a serious wine? — no not very serious. A little wood smoke on the nose (was this a fire year?) but that’s it for fragrances. It has a lot of fruit — cherries concentrated into cough syrup — on the front of the palate. Sweet on the mid palate. Soothing on the back palate. This will be my drink of choice if I develop the COVID-19 cough.
On the other hand, it I blend this Zin with the mediocre Rioja that I rated previously — 1/3rd Zin to 2/3rds Rioja, this makes a lovely tipple.

It smells like an old boot but has a very unique and tasty flavor. One of my favorite reds so far with any Italian dish or enjoyable by itself. A true delight.
