Nov 14th, 2020This isn’t a Grenache, it is a Grenache dominant blend. On the nose, faint wet stone and wild strawberry notes are the first thing I notice. After that, hints of fig, baking spices and tobacco are all pleasing nuances. On the palate, the wine is still jammy, fruit forward, succulent (2013 was a hot year). The Grenache is still the dominant flavor, with heaps of strawberry and white pepper notes. The Syrah and other varietals fill in the gaps though; this is not a one dimensional wine and hints of darker stone fruit, cured meat, and raspberry show up after the swallow. Yum!
