Second bottle of this. So comfortable in its own skin. Doesn’t try to impress, just fit in (with food, that is). Nose has bitter cherry, gravel, old mahogany furniture. Soft and fruity, but bone dry and with good acids and a little bitterness making the finish interesting. Great accompaniment to pasta with red sauce and sausage.

JL Bertani Amarone tasting 12/7/17. Darker Ruby color. Nose of dark red fruit and plums with hints of smoke. Balanced on palette with acids and fruits and long finish. Made traditional way but with Chestnut barrels etc. It's big and yet soft. Good value at $21.

This has some real staying power and went nicely with my deep dish pepperoni pizza..... 🍷🍕
