Bernard Magrez
Magrez Fombrauge St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend
Monthly WTF guys blind tasting group. This month was our annual, and famed, Left Bank vs Right Bank theme. All wines served blind as usual. Started off with a Rosé and a champagne. Great night.
Not familiar with this producer. Very soft with a fantastic nose of plum, smoke, licorice and bacon fat. Palate showed baked fig, juicy blackberries and currant. Thanks @Bill Makens .

Jun 14th, 2017Bit too much oak for me and still young. Better the second day and expressive showing of dark cherry and tobacco.

Sep 2nd, 2016Despite the cool red and black fruit and hints of damp earth, there is no escaping the element of new oak. Now I wonder if I should have left this vibrant, tightly coiled wine for a few more years. Dang it.

May 3rd, 2015Very impressive.2005 is just beginning to strut its stuff. Could use a few-several more years of age but in a great spot with a few hours of air.

Apr 20th, 201580% merlot 20% Cabernet Franc and 100% Pompous. Probably a better wine than a Tuesday deserves. Decant for a few hours to open up. Beautiful redder than red color.
