This bottle is finally showing. Lots of earth with a bit of fruit still hanging on

A difficult wine to rate and atypical of burgundy (would have guessed syrah blind). On the plus side, this is drinking almost ludicrously young for a 16 year old wine and solid core of dark, muscular fruit cane through after some time in the decanter. On the downside, this is extracted to the point of dryness and the fruit was quickly swallowed by stem-y tannin. When will this wine be ready, if ever?

Very complex, lots of acid, tart fruit opened up to tastes of tobacco and earth. Tasted the 2004 vintage could certainly see this aging for another five years.
