Beringer Vineyards
Private Reserve Napa Valley Chardonnay
The first Wine Spectator I ever bought had the Beringer Private Reserve Chard on it’s cover as wine of the year. 25 years later the price hasn’t actually changed much making this a good value ($30ish on sale). ‘17 starts out neon gold. Tight and malo. Needed a few hours to open up, and performed better cool and not chilled.

Nov 26th, 2021For $30.00 its refreshing, nothing complicated. But after having so many Novellum bottles at 1/3 the price I wouldn’t buy this again.

Jul 18th, 2021Sharp, dry, golden-appley smell with slight hints of white cranberry and candied ginger on the nose. Deep orange-tinged golden color typical of the variety. More interesting palate - lychee, cream puff, persimmon, toasty vanilla biscuit notes, gooseberry, and white peach with hints of orange blossom nectar and cooking oil on the finish. Very very nice and interesting. Not usually a big fan of chards but great showing. Awesome.

Nov 28th, 2020Gold color with a nose of green apple, pineapple, and toast. Nice full bodied Chardonnay with a velvety texture. Flavors persist over a nice, smooth finish.
