En mazoyeres Charmes Chambertin. Muscular, fruit forward, testimony that although most Charmes doesn’t justify grand cru status this one clearly does. Fabulous fruit.

Just wow. Too good to wait but hopefully I can forget I have it.

Monster of a wine in a glorious year from a highly talented producer. Decant for 45 minutes, cherries, blackberries, raspberries, layers of complexities, damp. Just super potential will be fantastic in 5 years. Right now a meal in itself but approachable.

No. 7 of 9 in the Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru lineup. Ruby red - very clean in colour. Aromatic red and black cherries. Palate has everything - dense and sumptuous. Tasted blind I was so impressed I thought this might have been Rousseau’s Chambertin. My highest pointed wine in the Gevrey Chambertin 9 wine bracket. This wine ticked all the boxes for me from this talented young winemaker. Only bought 2 wines on the day and this was one of them.

I have talked about this wine already a couple of times. I have only one case and I know very well that I need to wait but this wine is so good and is irresistible. Perfect fruit, great depth a joy to drink now and will be outstanding in 3 to 5 years I will need to bury it somewhere in my cellar so that I can’t drink it anymore while young.

Couldn’t resist opening a bottle and yes this is way too young. What a glorious vintage 2016 is and this is as good as it gets. The wines have plenty of red fruit, cherries, blackberries, blue berries. Very fine, elegant tannins. The typical Forrest soil, wet smell. Great acidity will be a monumental Burgundy 5 years from now. Keep but try maybe one bottle to get a sense of what Pinot can produce in a super year from a very good vintner.
