Asphalt, violets, and nutmeg on the nose. Bursts of boysenberry and blackberries pop on the palate. A carpet of fine tannins, acidity keeps everything agile and moving. Such a great drinking dolcetto. Just doesn't have that extra ummph!

Focused on the traditional grapes of Piedmont–Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera–Massimo Benevelli follows in the footsteps of his father, Piero, who learned early on that the best way to make great wines is to start with great grapes. Planted in 1986 to a vineyard rich in limestone and grey and white marl, this extremely fresh and transparent Dolcetto is absolutely textbook. Classic notes of fennel, roasted sage, tar, and baked plum abound followed by gorgeous notes of black figs, espresso, dusty cherries and a hint of dark minerals. The ultimate food wine and the perfect go-to Monday-Thursday red.
