Belasco de Baquedano
Llama Mendoza Malbec
Yup there is a Llama on the label. ‘Old Vine’ like Zin. Rusty edge to the color. Smells like fruity coffee grounds and horse barns. Maybe some wet soil or rocks too. Flavors are acidic and zippy, but complex, layered and interesting. This is strange and uncommonly lovely for Arg Malbecs. The acids and tannins make for a juicy and luscious wine with style.

Mar 12th, 2022I bought this Malbec for two reasons.
(1). I love a great Malbec and willing to try as many as it takes to find the best.
(2) My wife loves Llama’s.
I bought this bottle 3 years ago and stored it in my “cellar”. I poured the first glass through aerator.
This wine has legs, this wine smells of Blackberry, has subtle notes of spice, but not over spice. Yes there is a hint of oak at the end, but it is not over Oaked.
Having it tonight with Steak, it should be even better.

Very deep plumy color. Mild fruity nose. Relatively light on the pallet (for a Mendoza Malbec). Oakey and dry. Subtle cherries and earthy tones.
