Of all the wines we tasted in Barossa & McLaren Vale, Toby's wines were not only the most stunning but the most unique for the area and grape varietals. Toby is handling his wines very gently and hands off. The Bekker's Grenache is made in a very fine Burgundian style. The nose is delicate and shows it's Burgundian style immediately. Perfumed light and dark fruits as well as perfumed florals with a bit of spiced jam. You understand their elegance as soon as the wine hits your palate. The body is lean beautiful fruits of; blueberries, blackberries, slightly sour dark cherries with some strawberry preserves. Softly done spice that rises gently & slowly in intensity & heat in the mid palate and finishes very elegant. The wine is consistent start to finish; which doesn't not occur often enough in wines and I really appreciate when it does. Toby's florals are so delicate and beautiful. The acidity is perfect and the tannins elegantly soft. There's a light presence of mint. The wine finishes beyond elegant with slightly sour fruits, amazing florals and lasts for well over a minute. Toby's wines are guaranteed to wow you.
